House Democratic Caucus Call for IRS Investigation of Hope Florida

The House Democratic Caucus is calling for an IRS investigation of Hope Florida.

In a letter to the Internal Revenue Service, Florida House Democratic Caucus leaders called for an IRS investigation into the Hope Florida Foundation and two social organizations that received funding from the foundation.

“We are writing to request an immediate federal investigation into improper and potentially unlawful actions by Hope Florida Foundation, Inc., and two social welfare organizations that received funding from it,” the Florida House Democratic letter stated.

The letter also stated that $10 million out of a $60 million fine owed to the Agency for Health Care Administration was directed to Hope Florida.

Florida Democrats said Republican Senator Ashley Moody, who was Florida Attorney General at the time, approved the diversion of funds. Senator Moody is up for election this November. The Democrats are also connecting and targeting current Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier and the Republican Party of Florida on the matter.

The organizations called out by the Democrats are The Hope Florida Foundation, Secure Florida’s Future, and Save Our Society From Drugs.

The Democratic leaders also quoted Republican Florida Senator Rick Scott in the letter saying in December 2025, “Millions in tax dollars for poor kids have no business funding political ads. If any money was misspent, then it should be paid back by the entities responsible, not the taxpayers.”
