DENVER, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Denver Museum of Nature and Science is officially welcoming some rare footprints found by a museum associate in North Dakota.

The museum says the first reported adult T. rex trackway officially arrived on Thursday after they were discovered by museum associate Kent Hups in North Dakota's Hell Creek Formation.

According to the museum, the trackway is around 23 feet long and has four three-toed footprints. Officials say each footprint is around three feet long. Researchers can estimate they were made over 66 million years ago. The museum says that although isolated footprints have been found in the past by a T. rex, this is the first time a sequence of tracks has been found.

One of the plaster jackets containing the footprints will be on display at the museum starting on October 30. The museum says visitors can head to the second-floor birdge for a closer look at the discovery.
